BIOGRAPHY :

Mrs. F. Paton, who was elected for Rush-cliffe in 1945, is the only woman to be appointed to the Speaker’s Panel of Chairmen of Committees of the House of Commons, and was the first woman to preside over the House in Committee in 1948. She is the wife of Mr. John Paton, M.P. for Norwich since 1945. She is a former teacher, and during the war she taught in London and lectured to the Forces.
