BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. H. Neal was member for the Clay Cross division from 1944, when he was returned at a by-election. Born in 1897 he was formerly a checkweighman at Shipley Colliery, near Ilkes-ton, and has been a vice-president of the Derbyshire miners, secretary of the Miners’ Parliamentary Group and on the executive of the National Union of Minewqrkers. He has visited Austria and Norway with Parliamentary delegations, and made extensive tours in Europe as a member of the Imperial War Graves Commission.
