Mr. E. K. Martell was also a candidate at the 1945 election, gaining only 2,313 votes fewer than Mr. Lennox-Boyd. Aged 39, he was educated at Bedford School and is a solicitor and partner in a London firm. He is a member of the Home Counties executive and of the council of the Liberal Party.
