BIOGRAPHY :

Lt.-Col. G. B. Howcroft, aged 54, is a practising architect in Oldham, a lecturer on architecture at Manchester University, and a director of a spinning company. An active member of Oldham Borough Council, he is also chairman of the dilapidations committee in the Manchester diocese and a member of the church building and sites committee. Served with the 7th Battalion Duke of Wellington’s Regiment in 1914-18 and was in command of it at the outbreak of the last war.
