To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what assessment she has made of the potential effect on farmers of the UK leaving the EU.

60% of our food and drink exports go to the EU; this is worth £11 billion to our economy. This is a vital income for UK farmers and fishermen. If we were to leave the EU, exporters would face crippling tariffs when selling their goods to Europe, such as up to 70% for beef products, which would cost around £240 million per year.

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, which companies are currently participating in the Work Programme in Fife; and what kind of work experience does each such company to offer to benefit claimants placed with them.

The Work Programme prime providers that cover Fife are Ingeus and Working Links. They have complete freedom to innovate and design support based on individual and local need. That support can take many forms, including learning new skills, work experience and developing job hunting techniques. As prime providers they have the freedom to use a network of local specialist organisations to deliver tailored support to the individual.

The UK and Scottish Governments are ambitious for all our cities and regions. I am therefore pleased that we are currently negotiating a City Deal with Edinburgh and South East Scotland.

My Ministerial colleagues remain in contact with the Scottish Government on City Deal matters. And on 30 June, My Noble Friend Lord Dunlop met Keith Brown to discuss this agenda.

To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, pursuant to the oral contribution of the Financial Secretary to the Treasury of 27 June 2016, Official Report, column 72, how many (a) income tax post-transaction valuation checks and (b) PAYE health checks were made in 2015-16; and what proportion of each of those checks were made by SMEs.

For 2015-16 HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) dealt with a) 620 income tax post-transaction checks and b) 39 PAYE health checks.

HMRC does not retain directly accessible data that allows identification of what proportion of each of these checks were made by small and medium enterprises.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what progress his Department has made on representations to the Italian government on guaranteeing that UK citizens working as teachers at universities in Italy who have had financial aspects of their contracts breached by their employers receive redress and equitable treatment.

In 2015, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office intensified its campaign to end the unacceptable discrimination against the Lettori (UK and foreign national lecturers in Italy). We made significant progress with Italian Ministers in moving towards a legislative solution that would end the inequitable terms and conditions whilst also addressing past discrimination. While this proposal has yet to be submitted to the Italian Parliament, we continue to engage Italian Ministers on this important issue. The most recent meeting took place between The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my right hon. Friend the Member for Runnymede and Weybridge (Mr Hammond) and Foreign Minister Gentiloni in November 2015.

The Department does not operate a “workfare programme” therefore does not hold the information requested.

The Department does publish some information on the Work Programme, however the information requested for those who moved into full-time employment whilst on the Work Programme is not available.
