The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is overseeing a United Kingdom-wide review of all alcohol guidelines so that people can make informed choices about their drinking at all stages of their lives.
The Guidelines Development Group, a group of independent experts, was tasked with developing lower-risk drinking guidelines for the UK CMOs to consider, including UK wide guidance for alcohol and pregnancy. We will be consulting on these shortly.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what discussions he has had with the Royal Colleges on the effect of macrolide antibiotics on the risk of heart failure.

Heart rhythm disturbances are a known potential side effect of macrolide antibiotics. Several observational studies have found a possible association between macrolide antibiotics and heart events. Product information for healthcare professionals and patients includes warnings about the risks of heart rhythm disturbances.
In 2015, European regulators concluded from a review of all available evidence that the risk of heart events was small. As with all medicines, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency continually monitors the safety of macrolide drugs and will evaluate any new data, seeking independent scientific advice from the Commission on Human Medicines and its Expert Advisory Groups as appropriate, to ensure that the balance of risks and benefits remains positive for this important class of medicines.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what discussions his Department has had with the Russian government on the aircraft from that country which crashed in Egypt on 31 October 2015.

The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my right hon. Friend the member for Runnymede and Weybridge (Mr Hammond), spoke with Foreign Minister Lavrov by telephone shortly after the crash to convey our deepest condolences for the tragic loss of life. The Prime Minister also spoke twice with President Putin on the telephone in the days after the crash, to offer any help we could provide and to set out our assessment of the likely cause of the crash. The Prime Minister, my right hon. Friend the Member for Witney (Mr Cameron) subsequently met President Putin at the G20 meeting in Antalya on 16 November, and offered our assistance in relation to aviation security. We have followed up at senior official level with further options for practical cooperation and coordination.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how many people have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis in each of the last five years.

Information concerning the number of people diagnosed with osteoarthritis on an annual basis is not collected and the Department has made no specific estimate of the cost of osteoarthritis to the NHS. Although some relevant costing data are captured, such as those relating to hip fracture, total costs are not available, as additional costs are incurred out of hospital and in other services where data are not available.

The Government does not hold information on the number of people participating in foxhunting. However, according to the Countryside Alliance around 45,000 people regularly follow hunts (http://countryside-alliance.org/support-for-boxing-day-hunts-reinforces-need-for-repeal-of-the-hunting-act/).

The Secretary of State has a wide range of discussions with a number of clinical bodies.
We understand that this is a matter which will be considered in the review of evidence for the 5th edition of the Intercollegiate Stroke Working Party National Clinical Guidelines for stroke, which are due to be published next year.

A total of 615 badgers were culled in 2014; 341 in Somerset, and 274 in Gloucestershire. These data were published in December 2014. A report on the outcome of the 2015 badger cull will be published shortly.
