To ask the Secretary of State for Education, how many Sure Start centres were in operation on 1 March 2016.

On 1 March 2016 local authorities listed as being in operation 3,331 main children’s centres and sites open to families and children providing children’s centre services as part of a network.

Universal infant free school meals (UIFSM) have been a great success, with over 1.3m additional infants enjoying a nutritious, free meal at lunchtime and parents saving hundreds of pounds a year.

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what assessment she has made of the effect of her Department’s school food standards on milk consumption in primary schools.

We have had one piece of correspondence on milk from a school in recent months. The Department does not collect data on the consumption of milk. The revised School Food Standards are effective from 1 January 2015 and designed to be easier to read and implement. A full public consultation on the School Food Standards regulations was held between 6 March and 16 April 2014. All schools were subsequently notified of the guidance through our termly communications with schools. The standards and guidance are available on gov.uk at:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how much has been spent on the Better Health Programme and predecessor programmes examining the future configuration at Darlington Memorial Hospital to date.

Funding for this programme is the responsibility of local clinical commissioning groups (CCGs).

The Better Health Programme, previously Securing Quality in Hospital Services, has been funded by five CCGs (Darlington; North Durham; Durham Dales, Easington and Sedgefield; Hartlepool and Stockton; South Tees). Final annual costs for each year are in the table.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what assessment he has made of the performance of the North East Ambulance Service.

Assessment of the performance of the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) is the responsibility of its commissioners, and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) as the regulator of health services in England. The CQC carried out a comprehensive inspection at NEAS in April 2016. The inspection reports will be published in due course.

This information is not available centrally. The Better Health Programme is a locally-led programme run by the National Health Service in Darlington, Durham and Tees. Information on the number of people who registered for and attended engagement events can be obtained from the NHS locally.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many cautions have been given for any offence in each police force area in each of the last three years.

The number of cautions recorded in each police force area during 2012/13, 2013/14 and 2014/15 are provided in the attached table. Cautions data published by the Home Office are based on the number of offences recorded by the police that resulted in cautions by the police.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how many prisoners were awaiting initial psychiatric assessment (a) on the last date for which figures are available and (b) in each month of the last three years.

Data are not collected centrally on the number of prisoners waiting for an initial psychiatric assessment. Data on prisoners in receipt of an assessment and awaiting transfer to secure hospitals under sections 47 and 48 of the Mental Health Act 1983 are collected by NHS England since April 2015, through Health and Justice Indicators of Performance (HJIPs) and available data are shown in the attached table, Health and Justice Indicators of Performance – Mental Health Secure Assessment and Transfer. NHS England intends to publish HJIP data online from April 2016.
