The below Parliamentary question was asked by Gloria De Piero on 2016-01-19.

To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, what the total cost is of the transfer to Individual Electoral Registration; and what proportion of such costs have been borne by local government.

    John Penrose

In financial years 2013/14 and 2014/15 the Government has spent £72 million in the transition to Individual Electoral Registration (IER).

Of this, over £49 million was shared between all EROs in Great Britain, ensuring the transition to IER was fully funded. This included over £10 million that was allocated to local authorities specifically to boost levels of voter registration.

To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, what steps he has taken to investigate the reasons for changes in the level of electoral registration in each local authority.

    John Penrose

The Electoral Commission is expected to publish its assessment of the completeness and accuracy of the first full electoral registers under IER this summer. We expect this will provide a breakdown for England, Scotland and Wales but not for each local authority.

Gloria De Piero – 2016 Parliamentary Question to the Department of Health

The below Parliamentary question was asked by Gloria De Piero on 2016-05-20.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how much of the funding which Central Nottinghamshire Clinical Services received from the public purse has been recovered by the Government; and if he will establish an investigation into that body’s handling of its finances.

    Ben Gummer

This is a matter for Mansfield and Ashfield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), which managed the contract with Central Nottinghamshire Clinical Services (CNCS).

NHS England advises that the CCG has paid CNCS the sums it was contractually due. The CCG will endeavour to recover costs incurred as a result of the provider failure.

Local commissioners will conduct a review of the contract with CNCS, and the contingency process, to see if procurement processes can be strengthened in the future.

The below Parliamentary question was asked by Gloria De Piero on 2016-07-18.

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what the reduction in General Annual Grant for (a) secondary and (b) primary schools in Nottinghamshire is from academic year 2015-16 to academic year 2016-17.

    Nick Gibb

Maintained schools and academies are paid by reference to different financial years, which are not contiguous with academic years for maintained schools. Consequently funding figures for the academic year 2016/17 are not published. The table below shows that funding increased for Nottinghamshire primary schools and academies by £7.03m, and for secondary schools and academies by £0.62m between financial years 2015-16 and 2016-17.

    2015-16 FY (£)

    2016-17 FY (£)

    YoY Change (£)

    b) Primary

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, whether he plans routinely to offer screening tests for Group B Strep to pregnant women as part of their antenatal care.

    Mr Philip Dunne

The United Kingdom National Screening Committee (UK NSC) is in the process of updating its evidence review into antenatal screening for Group B Streptococcus (GBS) in accordance with its published three year review cycle.

When the update is completed, a public consultation on the evidence review document will begin, and will remain open for a three month period.

The UK NSC will then review the recommendation for GBS, taking into consideration the outcomes of the public consultation and the evidence review, at the successive meeting.

More information and how to contribute to the public consultation will be available at the following link:

Gloria De Piero – 2016 Parliamentary Question to the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills

The below Parliamentary question was asked by Gloria De Piero on 2016-03-15.

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, what steps he is taking to prevent reductions in bonuses, shifts and bank holiday pay for employees before the implementation of the national living wage.

    Nick Boles

The National Living Wage represents a significant step up for the lowest paid in society. On current forecasts, a full-time minimum wage worker will earn almost £4,200 more per year by 2020 compared to the current minimum wage. It is for individual businesses to decide exactly how to respond to the introduction of the National Living Wage, appropriate to their circumstances. But any changes to contractual pay should be discussed and agreed with workers in advance.

Gloria De Piero – 2016 Parliamentary Question to the Department of Health

The below Parliamentary question was asked by Gloria De Piero on 2016-05-20.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what the implications are for his policy on private NHS contractors carrying out healthcare services of the failure of Central Nottinghamshire Clinical Services to be able to continue to provide such services; what steps his Department is taking to ensure that other such contractors continue to provide the services for which they are contracted; and if he will make a statement.

    George Freeman

Clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) are responsible for securing the provision of services to meet the needs of their population. The Department expects CCGs to hold providers to account in a way which works effectively in their area.

CCGs are free to commission services from the provider that they feel offers the best services for the local population in line with the legislative framework. We do not anticipate that the failure of Central Nottinghamshire Clinical Services will affect this policy.
