    To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what plans his Department has to protect cultural heritage abroad.

    Government is committed to the protection of Cultural Heritage abroad.A £3m Iraqi Emergency Heritage Management Project – run by the British Museum over five years – will create a team of local experts to assess, document and stabilise afflicted sites in Iraq, and help begin the process of reconstruction and preservation of some of the world’s most precious culturalheritage. The Culture Secretary has also reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to ratifying the Hague Convention on the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict – with a plan to get it onto the statute books at the first opportunity. This isthe firstpart of a comprehensive Government plan to rescue ancient sites and objects from destruction by terrorists, wars or natural disasters across the world.

    To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, what plans his Department has to increase the average hours a week of contracted education provided for 15 to 17 year olds in custody.

    At present 15-17 year olds in young offender institutions (YOIs) receive an average of only 12 hours contracted education a week. We have recently set out our plans for transforming youth custody and putting education at the heart of detention, and at the same time launched a competition for new education contracts in public sector YOIs which will more than double the time spend young people spend in education. In addition, we are seeking to put education at the heart of the YOI regime by bringing the head teacher overseeing education into the senior management team of the establishment.

    ePassport Gates are in operation at many ports across the UK. At present there are (a) thirty five operating across Heathrow, (b) twenty at Gatwick, (c) ten at Luton, and (d) fifteen at Stansted.

    I refer the Hon. Member to the answer I gave on 31 March 2014, Official Report, column 463W, to the Hon. Member for Bristol East (Kerry McCarthy) regarding the UNESCO Convention on Underwater Cultural Heritage. The UK is already a State Party to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

    the House Library.

    The MPs’ hotline is a dedicated resource, for Members, based in Croydon and
    answers queries on Members’ constituents’ immigration queries. The staffing
    costs of the MPs’ hotline for 2013 were £180,240.
