    Mrs. Xenia Field, a journalist and playwright, was born in 1894, and educated at Ascot and in Paris. She studied economics, was a member of the L.C.C. from 1946 to last year, and is a member of the London executive council under the National Health Scheme. During the war she served at the Ministry of Supply, and has served on a Home Office advisory committee on the treatment of offenders.

After serving in the Army 1914-19, he was elected to Bexhill Council, and in 1943 was given the freedom of the borough. He resigned his county council seat on election to Parliament.

From 1945 to 1949 he was a member of Pudsey Borough Council, and has been president of the divisional Labour Party organization.
