    An Italian squadron has occupied Corfu following an aerial bombardment.

    The situation in Germany was becoming critical with regards to its finances, with tax revenue funding under 1% of the Government’s revenue. The rest of the money was raised by the issuing of Treasury Bills.

    The results of the General Election in Ireland continue to come in, with the Republicans securing some surprising positive results.

    Benito Mussolini, the Prime Minister of Italy, referring to the Ruhr Valley crisis, said at a speech before the Council of Ministers that the Belgian Note showed a rapprochement towards the Italian point of view and the possibility that a chance of settlement had improved.

    The latest Irish General Election results were announced which showed so far that the Government had 41 seats, the Republicans 28 seats, the Independents 14 seats, Labour 9 seats and the Farmers 8 seats.

    Violent storms caused substantial damage to properties and infrastructure along the English and French coastlines.

    The media reported that there was a weakening of the German position on the Ruhr Valley occupation.

    A note from the Italian Government to Greece demanded apologies for the murder of the Italian Frontier Delimitation Mission in Albania.

    Initial results from the Irish General Election suggested that Éamon de Valera had been returned for County Clare.

    Neville Chamberlain, the newly appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer, said during an interview in Harrogate that private enterprise was reviving and a large number of homes were in the process of being constructed.

    The Belgian note was published in response to the British Government’s stated policy on the occupation of the Ruhr Valley and war reparations. The Belgian Government said that they were grateful for the intervention of the British, but noted that there was no agreement between the Allies. Although the Belgian note didn’t contain any new breakthrough proposals, they suggested a private meeting between Allies in order to find common ground.

    Neville Chamberlain was appointed as the Chancellor of the Exchequer and William Joynson-Hicks was appointed as the Minister of Health.

    Reginald McKenna, in a letter to the Prime Minister, asked to be released from his conditional promise to become Chancellor of the Exchequer due to his poor health.

    The British Government stated that it had received the Belgian response to its note on war reparations and the French occupation of the Ruhr Valley. The Government said that a formal response would be issued in due course.

    Raymond Poincaré, the Prime Minister of France, stated in a speech at the unveiling of a war memorial commemorating the arrival of the first American troops on French soil that there was a sympathetic attitude to the country from the United States.

    Polling started in the Irish General Elections.

    Gustav Stresemann, the new Chancellor of Germany, welcomed the French Government’s statement that it had no territorial aspirations to the Ruhr Valley, but he said that the country needed to withdraw.

    The Cabinet gave its sanction for the works of erecting the Scottish War Memorial in the precincts of Edinburgh Castle to proceed.

    Admiral John de Robeck was seriously injured in a motor accident in Lanarkshire.

    Although there was no public agreement between the French and British Governments on the matter of the Ruhr Valley occupation, it was hoped that the two leaders would meet soon in person.

    Gustav Stresemann, the new Chancellor of Germany, gave a speech stating how he intended to resolve the country’s economic problems and also how he planned to tackle the issue of war reparations.

    The French Government published their response to the British note on war reparations and the occupation of the Ruhr Valley. The French said that they were unlikely to substantially change their view on the occupation of the Ruhr Valley, meaning a substantial split in the Allied view on how to resolve the growing political problems in Europe.

    An imposing parade of Irish Free State troops was held in Dublin, to commemorate the death of Michael Collins.
