Prisons employ a range of measures to detect, disrupt and deter the trafficking of illicit items into prisons. Any contraband detected coming into the prison will be recorded on a central incident reporting system. However, to identify the manner in which the contraband entered the prison and any subsequent referral to the police would require a manual interrogation of incident reports. This could only be achieved at disproportionate cost.
Information on prosecutions and convictions for these offences is not held centrally and could only be obtained by asking each prison to source information locally. This, again, could only be achieved at disproportionate cost.

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, how many legal proceedings involving the licensing of taxi and private hire vehicles, operators and drivers have been dealt with in the court system in each year since 2000.

The Ministry of Justice Court Proceedings Database hold information on defendants proceeded against, found guilty and sentenced for criminal offences in England and Wales. However, not all offences are individually reported within the centrally held data. Offences involving the licensing of taxi and private hire vehicles, operators and drivers under the Private Hire (London) Act 1998 are reported as part of a miscellaneous group of offences, and it is not possible to separately identify proceedings for these specific offences from others offences relating to motor vehicles. This detailed information is not reported to Justice Statistics Analytical Services due to their size and complexity.
Court proceedings data for 2013 are planned for publication in May 2014.

I was very moved to read of the outstanding fundraising work carried out by Stephen and his passion to raise money for teenage cancer services to help others like him.
As part of Stephen’s list of 50 things he wants to do, he came to Downing Street to give a speech in July last year. Although I was unable to meet him on that occasion I continue to be awe-struck by his enthusiasm, his determination and achievement.
His fund-raising is not only incredible in itself but is also an inspiration for young people and the wider community.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, if he will make it his policy to undertake a review of (a) the methods of any car park management company responsible for hospital car parks where there has been an significant increase in the number of car parking charge notices issued and the number of appeals since that company was awarded the contract and (b) in each such case, the reasons for those increases.

Parking in hospital car parks is the overall responsibility of the relevant National Health Service (NHS) Trust or landowner as is the case for all other private car parks. As such it is entirely a matter for the Trust or landowner to determine the levels of any parking charges. I have no plans to review or intervene in this matter as the Government promotes a system of industry self-regulation in the private parking sector.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, pursuant to the Answer of 3 April 2014, Official Report, column 817W, on railways: sanitation, if he will commission an investigation into sanitation of train toilets; and if he will include in that investigation a review of the adequacy of the accountability of train companies for sanitation of trains.
