To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what interruption to commercial and recreational shipping traffic is expected during the dredging of Portsmouth Harbour.

Portsmouth is a busy military port, which also manages commercial and recreational traffic flows, and the maintenance of harbour facilities, including dredging, around harbour users’ requirements is routine business.

When loaded to its maximum configuration a Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carrier will have a beam of 39 metres and a draught of 10 metres.

Other than the proposed closure of the site at Ashchurch for subsequent sale for development, it is not the intention of the Ministry of Defence to sell any of the sites used by the Defence Support Group (DSG) or to close any with a view to putting them on the market. The following facilities which the DSG occupy exclusively will be leased to the new company:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what collision warning system is currently being tested on Typhoon aircraft; when he expects testing to be completed; when a decision will be taken to install such a system; and what the estimated total cost is.

Analysis is currently underway into potential collision warning system capability for Typhoon. A system has not yet been fitted on a Typhoon aircraft for testing.
It is not possible at this stage to provide a timetable for the development of this capability, or for the decision on whether to install such a system on the aircraft. Similarly, it is too early to estimate the likely cost of such a system.

It is estimated that when connected to a shore power supply a Queen Elizabeth class carrier will continuously draw up to 8MW of electricity.

The last report received by the Secretary of State for Education relating to teaching standards and education at Ad-Deen Primary School was from Ofsted following their inspection of the school on 19-20 January 2011. This judged the school to be satisfactory for curriculum, teaching and assessment.
