    Credit unions are a devolved matter in Northern Ireland and responsibility for them rests with the Northern Ireland Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment.

    Government believes it is essential that everyone has access to affordable, good-quality financial products and that credit unions have a role in providing this vital service.

    DWP awarded a £38m contract to the Association of British Credit Unions Limited to deliver an expansion project to enable participating credit unions to modernise, expand their services and provide affordable credit to more consumers.

    DWP have also publicised the work of credit unions, encouraged DWP staff to join their local credit unions, and have ensured that benefit or pension payments can be paid into any credit union account.

    To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, if he will instruct the Civil Aviation Authority to respond to the Mott Macdonald report 2012 submitted to the Ministry of Defence; and if he will make a statement.

    The Mott Macdonald report was produced for the Ministry of Defence and sets out the position at RAF Northolt in 2012. The Ministry of Defence has not asked the Civil Aviation Authority to comment on the report.

    The situation at Northolt has moved on since the report was published in 2012. The CAA is reviewing certain aspects of the safety of operations at the aerodrome. This review will conclude shortly and, if necessary, appropriate action could be taken in respect of civil operations.

    The Department is currently preparing its response to the consultation ‘No voice unheard, no right ignored’. The consultation sought views on a range of issues, including possible legislation to strengthen the rights of people with learning disabilities, autism and mental health conditions. It expects to publish the response during the autumn.
